BLESSING OF THE PETS

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11 at 11 a.m. – BLESSING OF THE PETS

Bring your favorite (well-behaved) pets and human friends for this special outdoor celebration which will include a K-9 demonstration, information and goodies for our pets.

All pets are welcome. Please bring them on leashes or in carriers. If you prefer, you are welcome to bring a picture of your pet rather than the animal itself. The blessing will be given to the owner, who can pass on the blessing when returned home.

Sunday, January 15 marks an important event in the life of the church! We’ll install new leadership during worship at 10:30 a.m. We’ll celebrate in praise and prayer, in scripture, sermon and song, as we look forward to this new year of ministry and mission. You don’t have to be a member of the church to worship on Sunday mornings. All are welcome!

HAPPY NEW YEAR?

We’re less than a week into the new year and already many folks are reconsidering those pesky resolutions we all make as a new year begins.

Perhaps its even more important then to remember the promise we read in scripture. It is a promise from the one who offers a fresh opportunity in each new day.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3: 22-23 NRSV)

The 12th day after Christmas is Epiphany on our worship calendar. We’ll celebrate that this Sunday in song and sermon. Our “3 kings” will lead us in one of the best known carols of the season. The sermon will be based on the account of Matthew 2: 1-12. Be sure to be here!

CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas Eve is always a special worship experience.
We’ll celebrate our Savior’s birth at 7:00 p.m. along with candle lighting, of course!
And then Christmas morning we’ll continue the celebration as we gather for worship at 10:30 a.m.

We’ll make Christmas cards for our mission partners. And we’ll munch on some delicious pot-luck goodies. There will be something for all ages and abilities, so plan to be here!

On Being Thankful. . .

Thanksgiving has become almost a forgotten holiday. Halloween is hardly over when the Christmas decorations go up and ads appear. This year the day after Thanksgiving begins on Thanksgiving, with many stores open that evening to snag Christmas shoppers with early “black Friday” sales. Perhaps your Thanksgiving is getting lost in this holiday frenzy. It doesn’t have to.

Being thankful is a habit that can be cultivated. Look up. See the glory of the skies, and give thanks. Look around. Notice the people who are important in your life, and give thanks. Look within. Take stock of God’s grace given to you, and give thanks. Count your many blessings. Your heart will grow in gratitude, and every day will be Thanksgiving.
