History

February 17, 1991, 32 joyful people gathered for the first worship celebration of the “Murdock Presbyterians.”

By August 1992 worship moved from a temporary location to 18305 Wintergarden Avenue. A triple-wide modular building provided the shelter as 64 gathered for worship.

Their vision became a reality on November 22, 1992 when the Wintergarden Presbyterian Church was chartered with 98 members. By Christmas, 1997 the temporary building was replaced by a new spiritual home.

For seven years Wintergarden enjoyed steady growth in ministry and mission. Then in 2004 Hurricane Charley made its way through Charlotte County. Like many others, Wintergarden Presbyterian Church sustained outward damage. Those repairs were completed, this fellowship of faith began to recover, and despite the challenges, ministry and mission continued.

From its beginning, Wintergarden Presbyterian Church has believed it was called by Christ and commissioned to care. That conviction has not wavered. Today you will find a fresh sense of vitality and a renewed Spirit here at Wintergarden. We invite you to experience that for yourself. We know you’ll find a friendly welcome and true fellowship when you do.
